BRISTOL, Tenn. Nike Air Force 1 Rød . -- Elliott Sadler went 14 years without a victory in the Nationwide Series. Now, he has two in the last three weeks. Sadler picked up his second victory of the season Saturday when his crew chief left him out on the track on old tires during the final caution at Bristol Motor Speedway. The call put Sadler in the lead on the final restart, with 28 laps remaining, and he easily held off Kasey Kahne and Brad Keselowski. Prior to his win two weeks ago at Phoenix, Sadler had not won in the Nationwide Series since Oct. 31, 1998, at Rockingham. That also was the last season he won multiple races in the Nationwide Series, and the year he scored his only other win at Bristol in the second-tier series. "To win two of the first four races is awesome, and weve got to keep adding to them. Theres blood in the water," said Sadler, the Nationwide Series points leader. "After what Ive been through the last couple of years in racing, this damn sure feels good." Sadler raced to his first career Sprint Cup victory at Bristol in 2001, when he stayed out on old tires and pulled off an improbable victory. Crew chief Luke Lambert was a senior in high school watching that 2001 race from the grandstands, and decided Saturday to borrow that strategy. Kyle Busch brought out the final caution of the race with 38 laps to go, and most everyone headed to the pits. Lambert left Sadler on the track, even as Sadler protested the decision. "That was a great call by Luke. He reminded me I won a race here in 2001 by doing the same thing, staying out," Sadler said. "I wanted this one worse than anything because I love this race track so much." Kahne finished second and was followed by Brad Keselowski, who praised Sadlers Richard Childress Racing car. "I am sure a lot of people will make a lot about Elliott staying out there, but he had a fast car," Keselowski said. "He drove by me under green there, right before the yellow came out, and I think he was legitimately running the fastest lap times. "He had a fast car. You cant say he won that in strategy in my mind. Hes been doing a good job." Kahne, who was teammates with Sadler in the Cup Series, said Sadler is driving with a renewed confidence. "I watch Elliott right now, and I see him, hes as happy as hes been," Kahne said. "Hes a good racer and right now he has a lot of confidence and a lot of momentum. Hes walking around smiling, and hes confident with his car and his team. "I am happy for him. I am glad hes running well. He ran great last year in the Nationwide Series and I think hes doing a good job this year. Off to a couple wins early. I think hell get a shot to run some more Cup races as time goes on." Sadler, who ran 12 full seasons in Cup and made the Chase for the championship in 2004, ran the season-opening Daytona 500 for RCR. Michael Waltrip Racing then announced a limited deal for Sadler to drive the Cup races Mark Martin sits out, but the plug was pulled on that shortly after his win at Phoenix marked him as a strong Nationwide title contender. Sadler ran for the Nationwide title last season, but went winless and finished second to Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of Roush Fenway Racing in the final standings. Stenhouse led 41 laps late, but lost the lead on the final caution and finished sixth. He trails Sadler by 25 points in the standings. Joey Logano led a race high 119 laps and finished fourth, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. was fifth. Justin Allgaier was seventh and was followed by Trevor Bayne, Kevin Harvick and Ryan Truex. Bayne was a late addition to the race, added mid-week after RFR officials decided not to pull him because of a lack of sponsorship. Bayne, who is ranked third in the series standings, believes team owner Jack Roush is sending him to California next week despite a lack of sponsor. "Jacks got two stout teams here running hard, and two drivers that are hopefully the future for his company," Bayne said. "That is what we want to be. Ricky and I push each other hard and we did both lead laps and hopefully he is proud of that." All four Nationwide races this season have been won by drivers who dont compete in the elite Sprint Cup Series. It marks the first time since 1995 Cup drivers have been shut out over the first month of the season. Nike Air Force 1 Sort Dame . Heading into this World Cup the biggest storyline of all was "can the best player in the world carry Argentina to glory and become one of the greats?" For many it was nonsense, an obsession with an individual in a team sport who cannot possibly do it all himself. As the clock ticked past the ninety minute mark that crowd smiled. Resolute Iran had defended brilliantly. In a World Cup full of swashbuckling, quick, decisive finishing, it took a footballing minnow to give a masterclass in defending. Dont be fooled, they threatened to score also, but above anything else they made world class attacking stars look very ordinary. This included Messi. It was the perfect example of a game that laughed in the face of those who demanded the Barcelona star must carry his team. A game that required complete cohesion, partnerships on the field, combining to open up an opponent. A game that, late in the first half, saw Messi pick up the ball, look up and see 11 opponents in front of him... Iran did a great job with Messi, not only marking him tightly but being so disciplined with their shape and getting extra numbers that were ready if Messi cut in with his left. Messi from deep areas likes to glide from right to left but still the Iranians blocked that path. Last weekend Messi was able to score his goal against Bosnia-Herzegovina when that key area highlighted by the square (below) was open and not blocked with defenders... A 1-2 pass with Fernando Gago and suddenly Messi is into that space, shoots to the right of the goalkeeper for the game winner. And that was how he got his goal against Iran. With the game coming to a close, Iran got too deep, Messi got a one-on-one matchup with the defender and saw space to his left if he cut in... With 11 men behind the ball, but with that crucial narrow space opening up, Messi unleashed a brilliant strike to win it... Goals change perceptions as quickly as they change games. Suddenly Messi was doing what some had demanded. Carrying Argentina on his back to a victory. It was a wonderful World Cup moment, without question, but those demanding it, should be careful what they wish for. This is not Messi of 2010 and it is not even close. Yet. By not scoring, and therefore not having a moment, in South Africa Messis legacy was seen as tarnished for not performing at a World Cup. Germanys weakness is their defence and they were easily outjumped by Andre Ayew to make it 1-1. The heat of Fortaleza certainly played a part but the tempo of their passing wasnt quick enough either and that showed when they turned the ball over on the second goal. Philipp Lahm has now had two opportunities to move back to right back in two games but so far Joachim Low has resisted. To get Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sami Khedira and Toni Kroos together, bringing more pace and power to their midfield, Lahm may need to move back to defence. Nigeria 1-0 Bosnia-Herzegovina The African momentum continued into the evening game, which was another wide open, stretched affair. The game swung in the first half when Edin Dzeko was wrongly ruled offside after putting his team ahead. Soon after, Nigeria, a constant threat down the right side, opened the scoring when Emmanuel Emenike crossed for Peter Odemwingie to smash home. The Europeans were poor in the second half and didnt threaten enough until Vincent Enyeama produced a wonderful save with his legs in the dying moments. Seen as some as a dark horse heading in, the World Cup rookies are eliminated at the first fence. Another lesson that far too much emphasis can be placed on form from qualifying, which ended eight months ago. Man of the Day Nominees Ashkan Dejagah – Iran had many stars on this day but the Fulham man was incredibly lively when they countered and could have had a penalty when tripped by Pablo Zabaleta. Javad Nekounam – If Dejagah was the star going forward, his midfielder teammate was marvelous maintaining the shape and discipline of their back lines. Lionel Messi – It could have been a two yard tap-in and it still would have been a massive moment, given the timing of the goal, but in the end it was an absolutely stunning goal. Miroslav Klose – Any player who equals any stat held by the great Ronaldo is special.
