Iceland Leaves FIFA 17 Because of Low Offer
Despite efforts from EA to secure licensing to include Iceland in FIFA 17, a financial agreement could not be reached, meaning that the team who knocked England out of Euro 2016, won't be featuring in FIFA 17. Iceland's football association (KSI) say they weren't happy with EA's initial offer of $15,000 to have them included in FIFA 17 and expected more. They made an undisclosed counter offer, but it was not accepted by EA.

EA, he said, told the federation the offer was comparable to what it pays other countries of similar size. (Iceland's soccer overachievers hail from an island of just 320,000 people.) The company then cut off negotiations, Thorsteinsson said.

What Thorsteinsson hadn't counted on was the backlash at home from gamers and the Icelandic media since he revealed the offer Tuesday morning. He received messages all day blaming him for denying Icelandic fans the chance to win with their Viking heroes. He was interviewed about the decision for Iceland's national nightly news program.

"The gamers are really crazy in Iceland and attacking the federation for not giving [EA] the rights,"Thorsteinsson said. "I feel mistreated by this company."

Sad news for anyone that was hoping to be able to play as Iceland in FIFA 17 after their great run in the Euros.
