FIFA 17 Career - The End of Season One

Due to some power-simming of matches I did manage to reach the end of my first season as Man United manager, during which I successfully guided them to the Premier League title by some ten points. So all in all, a pretty good campaign given the context of United's recently trophy-less years. However the Career Mode gods were not best pleased, with my manager rating finishing on paltry 68 (red) and emails a plenty warning of my imminent demise.

By the skin of my teeth I kept my job as United manager when the game rolled over to season two, apparently earning myself a "second chance". But it didn't really feel all that great to scrape through my first season after winning the title. As I mentioned earlier after we were eventually crowned Premier League Champions, my manager rating didn't even go up? And in fact, the game in general barely even acknowledged it.

The only explanation I can muster is that I had ten or so objectives for the season, but only completed just over half, failing to win both domestic cup competitions, and not growing my youth team players sufficiently. Perhaps then my rating is understandable? Sadly I get the feeling that the underlying mechanics of Career Mode objectives are working purely on the number of ticks in boxes. Which is overly simplistic and shows little regard for football context, in which winning the league title pretty much trumps all, except for perhaps winning the Champions Cup.
